Can we get Tapatalk enabled on this forum please?
As the increase in iphone/android web browsing is on the increase, could Exetel please look into enabling the Tapatalk application into this forum?
It should be fairly easy as it already supports phpBB. Details here: http://www.tapatalk.com/
This would make our forum reading whilst mobile much easier.
Thanks.

Seconded, as I most often read this forum from a mobile device.thomashouseman wrote:As the increase in iphone/android web browsing is on the increase, could Exetel please look into enabling the Tapatalk application into this forum?

I have asked the sysadmin responsible to reply.

I see mention of vulnerabilities via Tapatalk but I don't know of their nature or severity. See http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=2116602
I wonder if something like http://phpbb-mobile.com is preferred, or perhaps http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=2091769. I'm sure there are lots of mobile stylesheets to choose from

I am a volunteer moderator and not an Exetel staff member. As with all forum posts, mine do not constitute any "official" Exetel position. Support tickets may be logged via https://helpdesk.exetel.com.au or residentialsupport@exetel.com.au

Re: Can we get Tapatalk enabled on this forum please?
From that thread I get the impression that the Tapatalk mod's are quite responsive to queries/vulnerabilities.
Surely with over 11000 forums using it, any issues would get highlighted & fixed right away?
The one mentioned in the forum above was fixed within 4 days and wasn't that critical. (http://tapa.tk/forum/showthread.php?t=5449 - The problem is clear, only when user have forum list permission without read permission, it will have issues. We'll release a fix build soon and thank you for your reporting.)

Our phpBB has been modified (as you may have noticed) which presents a problem as far as the present and future compatibility goes (we don't want to be restricted in the mods we feel we need to make ourselves).thomashouseman wrote:As the increase in iphone/android web browsing is on the increase, could Exetel please look into enabling the Tapatalk application into this forum?

I'd be more than happy to install a custom skin that'd make the forums more usable in a mobile web browser, though. Will look at Corey's suggestions but if there are any favourites, now's the time to shout.

And those modifications stop Tapatalk from working? It's still my fav. choice but any mobile-centric custom skin would be better than all the zooming I currently have to do....SysAdmin wrote:Our phpBB has been modified (as you may have noticed) which presents a problem as far as the present and future compatibility goes (we don't want to be restricted in the mods we feel we need to make ourselves).thomashouseman wrote:As the increase in iphone/android web browsing is on the increase, could Exetel please look into enabling the Tapatalk application into this forum?

I too would be interested in having Tapatalk enabled.
It's not clear, from the reply SysAdmin gave, whether the Tapatalk features have been examined, to see how they operate in conjunction with the modifications Exetel uses or whether it has been discounted just because it's not in-house code.
The iPad gets alot of use and Tapatalk is a very useful interface.
Here's hoping something can be done.
Cheers MrEd.

It's also been 2 and a bit months and the other option of a phone friendly format hasn't been implemented either. Still doing lots and lots of zooming! Has any progress been done at all?
Re: Can we get Tapatalk enabled on this forum please?
Apologies for the delay. This is being worked on (albeit slowly). We're not going for Tapatalk but rather going to see how http://phpbb-mobile.com/ will turn out. Unless I've misread something it's a nice, generic solution that'll be free to use, which is something that I find preferable to a specialised app that costs.
