modem problem.

Post by warchild » Mon Feb 11, 2008 7:33 pm

I lost my adsl2 modem in a storm recently.
I put in my old adsl 1 modem, dsl g604t, dlink thing to get myself working again.

anyway, asked some questions for a good adsl2 modem, got a recommendation for an linksys am300.

I use the modems in bridged mode, because I run a linux router using pppd.

when I connect the linksys am300, http seems to work fine, but msn and wow will not connect.

any ideas?

thanks. I have some traceroutes with some interesting results, I cna paste if needed.

Have you turned off UPnP on the Linksys if you are using it in bridged mode, and all other related firewall items?

I tweaked my conf, and used in bridge mode with windows xp.

the conf didn't work on pppd and the windows xp pptp worked fine.. :\

This saga is still on going.

I found that I have IPv6 running on the interface, I have disabled thsi at the kernel level and it still doesn't work.

something I find interesting is that when I browse through my proxy with the am300 connected (using squid) all of the websites work as normal and it only fails when it's a direct connection, of course msn and WoW continue to fail. So it's most defiantly something in relation to the routing process (MTU or the like)
