No DSL light on modem

Hi all,

Just got ADSL connected on Thursday last, and now trying to set up my modem (Dynalink RTA1025W).

Should the DSL light be on when the modem is plugged in but not actually connected to the net?

If so, mine is off, but I don't know if it's the modem or if my connection is still not active.

Are there any other ways to tell if the ADSL signal is there?

Cable up the modem and turn it on. If the DSL light becomes solid, you have made a connection with the exchange DSLAM, and the service is available. You will have to complete the configuration steps to get onto Exetel, when the PPP light will come on.

Your modem web interface, even before configuring it for Exetel login details, should say "Ready to connect" in the front page if an ADSL signal is present.

My bad. How stupid do I feel now?

I had the modem lead plugged into my network CAT5 port in the wall and not the RJ12 one.

DOH!!

All that matters is that it is working now. Just goes to prove how easily the simple things can get missed
