NB4Plus4W rebooting

Post by jeffborg » Thu Mar 18, 2010 10:55 pm

Hi,

I just had naked adsl2 on and it works fine.

The modem is another story

First using it in standard mode it dies under many connections. Ok I am aware of this, so I have stuck it into bridged mode and setup pppoe on the linux server and it's rebooting every 10 minutes now. I am using the wireless function of it. But the heavy traffic is going via the 4 wired ports.

I have been reading posts here about it being actually related to the wireless function, I have a handheld device a nokia n810 which might be causing it to crash, I will leave it offline as well as the laptop and see what happens, I have it logging via syslog so I know how often this happens.

Regards

Jeffrey

Seems like it is time for a new modem, though disabling wireless sounds quite promising too and I too have heard of similar resolutions in the past

How many simultaneous connections are passing through the router? I tested a Dynalink router the other day, and found iptables that allow 500. It's readable in the router (like your server): cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_conntrack_max or a similar /proc pathname. (On an Ubuntu machine it's sudo cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_conntrack_max)

If it's not enough, get a new one.
