NetComm NF18ACV Dec 2018 Firmware

Post by soch » Mon Apr 15, 2019 10:42 am

Hi all,

This modem/router is a great little unit but just a word of warning when applying Dec 2018 firmware (NC2-R6B012) as an upgrade to older firmware - you must complete the step that says perform a factory reset once you've upgrade the firmware.
If you try and do the firmware upgrade and then leave it as is, it's buggy as all heck (at least in my case), including rendering the admin page consistently/properly on multiple browsers which makes it more challenging.

The best way around rekeying all your auth and SIP info is backup the config to a file after the firmware upgrade, do the factory reset, and then restore it.

It's an unfortunate process but I haven't been able to stabilise the device any other way- it's also what Netcomm recommends.
(I wanted the firmware upgrade to automatically stop unsolicited VoIP traffic). ... -notes.pdf

Most of these devices have a Linux OS stored and arranged that way. It is copied across at boot, so this method is a good idea for all types.
