Does Exetel us Cloudflare?
Does Exetel us Cloudflare?
Hello. I've been noticing the last 6+ months that SOMETIMES my external IP is supposedly going
through Cloudflare. 172.68.86.117, 172.68.86.7 and 172.68.86.5
I see this going on via the old Windows 7 desktop app "Network Meter" (scene grab attached)
I suspect my "PrivateFirewall" software or the Network Meter app too.
Is that Exetel doing this DNS redirect?
Thanks.
Rod

Re: Does Exetel us Cloudflare?
I don't what tool is operating to obtain your reports, but are you visiting sites concealed behind Cloudflare?
Are you finding AWS?

Re: Does Exetel us Cloudflare?
1. "Network Meter" (old Win 7 desktop app) is the only visual tool I'm seeing the Ext IP change with.
2. Idle computer with browser activity still does the change from time to time.
3. No AWS IP's, only the Cloudflare ones listed above.
I just noticed "Advanced System Care" (ASC) has had their DNS app on by default, but it's set to the PC's default DNS (Exetel). I turned it off just in case.
I have a clean 2020 Macrium backup I have to revert to sometimes due to DNS browser hacks taking me to bizarre sites.
Oddly AVG (I've since uninstalled) was trying to make me upgrade to their anti-dns hacking tool before 2 of 5 attacks over 18 months.
I'm running Avast now, and although they push the same anti-dns hack upgrade, I've not been browser hijacked in 3 months with them.

Re: Does Exetel us Cloudflare?
G'day, thanks for checking that out. I thought Extel were using Cloudflare's free 1.1.1.1 DNS sometimes to help protect users.nilushid wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 4:31 pmOur Network engineers has investigate this and provided the following feedback.

Our Network engineers confirmed that Exetel doesn’t use Cloudflare, we are just peering with them for content delivery. However, I will pass your details to the network engineers and get back to you if we have more information.
Thanks
Re: Does Exetel us Cloudflare?
Hi Rodney
Our Network Engineers have informed us that Exetel does not use Cloudflare DNS. We do use our own DNS. Also, you can always check your IP address by logging in to the ZTE modem or by typing "what is my IP in Google. The way the Network meter gathers the External IPs are not something that Exetel can advise you on. You will have to check this with the vendor directly.
Thanks

Re: Does Exetel us Cloudflare?
Where's my last post gone? (geez, I thought Twitter and Facebook were the only ones banning stuff)
Anyway, thank you for the update.
