Very slow in QLD

Post by spidie » Tue Aug 12, 2008 9:45 am

Anyone else up in QLD seeing very very slow network since they did that change last week? I am shutting everything down (15 mins off) and starting again - and it works for a little while, but then degrades back down to sub-dialup speeds.

Have tried it without anything connected to the Router and still the same so it's not my local network.

Was great before they made that change last week to the QLD POP. Have tried a new IP address too this morning and still the same.

I have a Billion 7404VGP router - latest firmware.

I have recently moved from Telstra Cable (crappy upload speed) -> Virgin Broadband (completely unstable and unusable) -> Exetel. I hope I am not going to be dissapointed again - started off so well.

Regards
Steve

Ok - I don't know if you did anything but I am now getting nothing.

Modem syncs and logs in... get's IPs, DNS servers etc - but nothing seems to get out - can't contact DNS servers. I reset the thing to factory defaults - and it's still the same.

One thing I noticed is that the default route is set to 0.0.0.0 - is this normal??? Status screen says:

I tried putting in an IP address change on the site (using another connection) - not I just get 0.0.0.0 for IP address.... tried multiple restarts and still the same. Can anyone help?

Yep - spoke to Stephen today. He gave me some speed tests to run - but I can't run these as I can't even get to DNS. I just replied to him - but I think he might have gone for the day now.
I resolved the IP issue - but I still have a 0.0.0.0 default route - I think this might be a problem... it should pick this up automatically - and has done before.

What should the default route be? - maybe I should just put it in there and see if this is the problem, at the moment I have no way of getting out of the network to test other things.

hey. Since last Sunday evening (10/8/08) I've had the same problem in Sydney. my line checks out OK. Normal upload speed but only 3KB/s to 7 KB/s download speed. and i have exetel ADSL2+. I cant even load the Exetel home page or speed test page. ive tried using a spare Billion modem and another computer and same results. The CS guys have asked me to change the MTU setting on my modem, hello!!! this was not changed in the first place. Exetel, what have you done to my ADSL2+ connection. i have done nothing other than turn my computer and NB6W modem on and off. that doesnt change any settings. is anyone else having the same problem in Sydney.
