PS3 Update

Post by WilliamC » Fri Apr 03, 2009 12:18 pm

Dear Users,

As you may know our networks team has recently been working with our
vendor Allot to resolve the issues circulating around PS3 and the
NetEnforcer.

The have recently performed configuration changes and some major
upgrades of the device targeting the PS3 specific issue. We would now
like your feedback to help us verify if this was successful.

Regards

I'll add to that that I get signed out all the time.

Possibly unrelated but the 2.70 update this morning is taking an absolute eternity (around an hour so far to hit 35%) on what claims to be 15Mbps ADSL2, however even on regular HTTP downloads I'm not getting above about 2Mbps atm.

Hi,

Thank you for your replies, can i ask what has been done locally on your networks to ensure the PS3 traffic is forwarded correctly, include all port assignments and network firewalls if possible.

Ok I recently tried using ABC iview with the latest PS3 update. Sound is fine but the video is a slide show. I can plug a laptop into same patch lead as PS3 and iview is fine. There is a small speed test page when u join iview this is consistently in the red for the PS3. IE not enough bandwidth hence my slideshow. However when I navigate the PS3 web browser to oz broadband speed test it reports a speed of 10mB/s more than enough to stream iview smoothly. I do not use any network firewalls (option is disabled in modem settings)and the only port forwarding is for azureus. Modem is a Billions 7402VGP. Could this also be the reason for generally slow page loads in the PS3 or that's just the way they are?

Sorry i know this is about gaming issues but it may be related.

Hi,

Browsing wouldn't be an issue. It will be application related, the PS3 Login application trying to connect, and then timing out, that would be the problem.
And yes you will need to forward the relevant ports for this to work correctly.

This information can be found here.

I've had no problems since I was patched manually.

If this manual patch has been removed... well I still have no problems.

My access to PSN is overall very good - only drops out rarely now, and about five times out of ten that's when the ADSL sync drops out and reconnects, which in itself is perhaps a twice-a-month thing (like once tonight, though I wasn't gaming at the time).

When I previously had major issues, it appeared my firewall router (a Smoothwall box) was at fault, blocking more than it should. Despite everything else that's been said and done, for me at least I can't lay any blame at Exetel's feet for the issues I had back then. The changes I made to Smoothwall appeared to correct all my issues.

Now if only PSN was a bit faster...
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...

Anyone have some pointers on getting this working? Logging into PSN alway times out for me.

Tried putting the PS3 in my routers DMZ, forwarding a bunch of ports (I don't have them in front of me now unfortunately - although it not working in the DMZ gave me little hope for port forwarding to work)

I'm using wireless if that makes difference. Can access the internet fine ie downloading patches

PSN is still signing out every minute or two after the modem has been cycled.
Is everyone still on the PSN profile?

I just tried sending pm's to both william and then corey but they both just went offline. (williamc was the inital person dealing with this problem for us all)
You will have to call exetel and talk to someone in regards to seeing if you are still on the PSN profile. I would quess that it has been stuffed again after there maintenance this morning?
