I believe my service may also require a fix for this. My Ventrilo gets a bit laggy, doesn't actually disconnect me though. However, main issue is WoW lag and dc's after midnight. Was fine for most of the month, however the last 2 nights of raiding, just after midnight my connection went to sh*t and lagged/dc'ed constantly. Tested this running WoW normally and via wowtunnels (similar to lowerping), same issue.

The issue is more related to the quality of service (QoS), 'Shaping' specifically
I can stay on wow in a low populated area of the world, no issues 250 ping (which is good for us), but when i join a raid group and join up with them my ping shoots straight up. This is made even worse by using voip at the same time.

Here is a result of a tracert when in a raid whilst using voip.

Code: Select all

(no connection from here on in)
Now, in not exactly sure, but it seems that our traffic is being shaped once we leave Australia, i did another tracert to Google, very similar results.
I then pinged a a few game servers located from Melb/Syd/Bris, they all produced decent response times (between 30-60ms)
Exetel already use P2P *deprioritisation* at all times of congestion (mainly off-peak) so that P2P only utilises the bandwidth when other protocols (HTTP, etc) don't need it. More importantly, Exetel use P2P caching to free up external bandwidth.
Quoted from Here
Maybe this is why our international traffic is poor.

I would like to see this issue resolved as it does become VERY frustrating.

It looks like I'm suffering the same issue here as well - ~12 each night Vent becomes unusable - what was the fix, and how can I get it applied to my account also?

Cheers,

I also have what seems to be the problem described here, at roughly midnight each night my latency goes through the roof, Darkfall becomes unplayable, vent ping spike upwards or 20,000 intermittently and web browsing either reminds me of when i was on 9,600 baud dialup or fails to connect without a refresh.

Can I get myself added to the "temporary" fix and possible get some solid info on what is causing this please.

Hi alpacca,

At the beginning of the post i did mention that i was following up this and its related issues with the vendor, this is still going on. I can possibly provide an update of my progression. From what i can see during the offpeak time and certain times during peak hour our Net Enforcer unit is being flooded by a very large number of connections. This seems to be the cause or is linked to the cause of the increased latency, possibly an upgrade that is scheduled in the up coming month will help resolve this and numerous other issues that are surfacing. At the current time however i am still working with our Allot vendor who is investigating the network interfaces of our device and trying to provide a solution to reduce the latency spikes.

Regards

I saw that thanks WilliamC, and I thank you for your efforts in resolving the issue, my post was merely to notify you of another time that this problem occured.

What is this fix? I don't play WoW or use vent but as soon as it hits 12am, I get packet loss and it slows GTA2 and other games I play against Australian users.

Is it possible to get this fix applied to my account?

We have been receiving extremely hi latency when playing wow that jumps to an almost unplayable level after 12am.

Cheers

Hi,

I am also experiencing extremely high latency at practically 12am on the dot every night.

It's a real pain considering this is our prime raid time and I can't hear a word on vent or cast as much as a spell - Does this fix work for wow, vent and general streaming (ie http://www.sidereel.com). Without these working well after midnight I can't see a reason to stay with Exetel.

I did go through the ticket process already and the staff I communicated with seemed to think I was making it up, but I can see a ton of people are having similar problems as me - And I can't see the point in making up latency issues after midnight if they didn't exist.

Regards
