Beyond a joke. <0.4mbps

Post by morrisj » Sun Jan 10, 2010 11:41 am

I've used exetel for years. Back when they only services NSW and had less than 10k customers. It seems like it has turned to shit since the good ol' days.

Never seen speed issues like this before. Some speed tests are giving me less than 0.4mbps line speed...

Modem I'm using is a netcomm NB6plus4w.

Any help you guys can provide would be great, because this not only is unacceptable, its really *%^&ing frustrating when you need to get work done.

Thanks,
Jeremy.

Must be a localised issue. I'm using NB6+4W at RAND. Also speed results vary - not sure if they mean anything.
iview and youtube all work OK.

BTW, didn't mean to sound narky. It's just really frustrating when you can't even browse webpages normally.

Also, my modem says: ADSL Speed (DS/US) 4011/814 Kbps

It might help if you could post the whole of the line status figures as recorded by the modem. Also, can you try a more indicative speed test; either use a download manager on something like http://exetel.com.au/speed/; or, using a browser, download 3 files at once from the microsoft and apple sites, and add up the combined speed. (These are very fast servers co-located with Exetel)

Since noon the speed has increased. But we have been having speed problems for the last 3 days (whole time we'd been using it).
