Two Problems (Member Login/ADSL Connection)

Post by sereneworx » Thu Jan 21, 2010 5:26 pm

We churned over the Exetel today, but have had a few problems.

[Fixed this part]First, I've tried the customer login details given in the initial email (10-digit Phone number Username and a password), but they don't work — this is pretty frustrating is it means I can't check status or lodge a support ticket for my next issue:

Second. The internet worked for a short time in the morning, but then I went and messed up a few settings trying to get some port forwarding to work with my modem (D-Link DSL-302g). I'm fairly certain I have fixed everything now. However, we're still having problems.

Although my modem's control panel shows that I am connected to the ADSL, I cannot open any pages (I'm posting this connected to a 3G modem). Any ping attempts are unsuccessful and this is the output from a traceroute to google.com:

Code: Select all

Traceroute has started…

From this, I gather that my connection is fine — it is Exetel who are having the problems, mostly I'd just like a confirmation on this, and if it is I who has the problem, some guidance towards resolving it.

I'm in Ewingsdale, NSW.

Swift help much appreciated.

EDIT: Okay, so I just got into the members area using a username and password different than those on my email. Odd.
Anyway still no internet connection...

Can you check to see what IP you are getting from exetel, if it is in this range 10.35.x.x you may have done the same thing that I did only yesterday, and entered the wrong credentials in the modem, so that may be a good place to check 0266xxxxxx@nsw.exetel.com.au and the password is 0266xxxxxxPR or MC if you happen to live in Mcgettigans lane :D the first 2 digits of your street name in uppercase.
Ahh Ewingsdale, I lived in Mcgettigans for several years, good luck :D

Also check you're not still using an old hard coded domain name server. Try a ping or mtr to 66.249.89.147 and see if it gets there directly. Even try http://66.249.89.147 in the browser.

Thanks for the help guys, turns out my credentials were wrong. Apparently I made the same mistake about five times. :P

Cheers.
