Modem Sync UP/Down Speed 3 times less

Post by squeakytown » Wed Feb 10, 2010 10:15 am

Normally my Modem shows sync Down speed of around 4200 which translates to the exetel speed test of 3-4mb.
As of Monday the modem is now showing a down speed of 1400 and exetel speed test is never getting above 1.5 mb.
(I have reboot modem and it sycs at this same lower rate every time).

I am on ADSL2 for years and the modem has always been at the higher sync rate. Warrila Exchange (South Coast NSW).
I know speed goes up and down on different days but the sync didnt change on the modem.
Has my line been down graded to ADSL1 1500?

What changed...
On Saturday I created a ticket for an issue about my line. This turned out to be the faulty modem and I close the ticket and started using my backup modem.
As normal the modem when connected show about 4200 as the Down load maximum and speed tests return 3-4 mb as usually.
Extel rang me Monday afternoon regarding the problem I had already closed. Since Monday my speed has been 1/3 of normal - has my line been changed.
I am concerned something may have been done to my line for that issue.

Could you please either PM me your service number or post the ticket number?

Thanks for the PM, I've reset the port at the exchange, therefore sync speed should be back to normal :)

Thanks - Speed is back - a little higher than normal! 4544

Is forum the best way to get resync'ed or should I raise a fault?
