I have about had it with this ISP between my 400 - 700ms ping times and my 25kbps download speeds on an 8mb connection. I wonder how long until I get a useful reply.

More importantly when will you (and I) get a useful connection? (BTW it's probably not Exetel to blame but Telstra) I have the exact same problem with pings/speeds on my $85 8mb connection - still, at least it connected, even if only dial-up speed - still off the air here (Berwick Vic) - sending this via 3G

No, I havent been connected. My home ADSL is still off the air. This is an issue previous to my current cant connect issue.

I am still glad that the maintenance this morning went as planned and that the current interuption to my service is planned.

My modem has also been unable to connect all morning (and now afternoon), sending this via backup HSPA. Good to know it's not just myself having problems. Should I log a ticket, or maybe just wait....

Exetel have not responded stating there is a problem yet so i would log a fault.

Yeah i did exaxtly as above. As was said, until exetel state theres a fault maybe they aren't aware of how many users have this issue?

just called exetel support again. dissappointing.

gave him my number, he asked me to restart my modem. after i told him that i had restarted my freaking modem 100 times already and left it off for long enough he told me there was an issue with their maintance. no eta. unbelievable.

@exetel: update your status page & post some information -> you will loose customers from this

Yeh, Ive been having the same problem since this morning too (I'm in Hobart).
Can load google, exetels website, facebook and hotmail but all the other pages I have tried dont seem to work - namely whirlpool, westpac online banking, the west, imdb, afl.com.au, ebay etc, dont seem to work at all. Not when trying to load them through bookmarks, typing in url manually, or clicking on link from google search results.
Have restarted modem manually and through netgear login every hour or so since about 9am, plugged modem out for 15 mins like is suggested, disabled lan connection and re-enabled through xp, flushed dns and renewed ip through cmd, restarted computer, and am now pretty much out of ideas!
Hopefully the issue is located and can be resolved soon - just happy that this time, unlike other cases of connection problems, I can actually still access a select few websites!

Emergency maintenance has to be done to move the TWE link to another interface on the Cisco ESR.

All ADSL1 customers in VIC will have a 10 minute service disruption.

Any customers unable to reconnect are advised to power cycle their routers.
Lets hope this does the trick

You can cause the exchange to reset by turning your modem off for a quarter of an hour.

Reposting my comments from the following forum just to improve chances of being counted if Exetel are looking

Network Maintenance: 30/03/2010-31/03/2010 1:00AM-7:00AM EDT

I have been offline all day also, have just logged a no connection issue with auto phone support. (Ticket no. is #AF087090) My DSL light is on but my connection light is off. When fixing if Exetel would like to know my upstream SNR is 31.0db and my attenuation is 19db. Downstream SNR is 29.3db and Att. is 33.0db. I have tested with a spare DSL modem just to cover all bases also. Main Modem has been power cycled for 1/2 hour or more several times also. (Murphy's Law says of course this would happen the day I had off work to play games with a mate online, FFS)

Update, Forgot to add, Narre Warren/Berwick Area

Still offline since approx 1:10am this morning. ADSL1 Vic
Power cycled several times, latest left modem power off for 30mins - still no good.

Line sync is fine, modem is reporting username / password incorrect.
