Constant connection interruptions in Melb,Vic?

Post by AoXoA » Mon May 10, 2010 11:07 am

Hello everyone. Love this ISP, but for some hours now my connection has been very weird. Usually its nice and solid at especially these hours (11AM atm), but atm both World of Warcraft, and Runescape ive had lag spikes (zero connection, no incoming signals, and I take it most likely no outgoing either) for times ranging from 7 seconds, to up to 16 as a guess.

They keep occurring at least once per 3 minutes, but sometimes in chain spikes where on say runescape ill have connection interrupted for chain spikes on end, where ill get a tiny bit of input every 10 seconds.

But mainly had a check through before of these forums for any maintenance or anything but didn't see anyone with these problems so ill just say that im from Melbourne, Victoria in the Cranbourne area.

Any information greatly appreciated and thank you for your time. :)

EDIT: Usually if issues like this arise, they sort/fix themselves out by themselves anyway, so regardless of anything, im a patient person =)

Thanks for the replies, this means its not just my own line =) Fortunately that means it should be fixed sometime :D

Even though this is annoying the heck out of me at the moment, the good thing is its not just limited to just myself, or a small area near me. So I guess the only thing I, and maybe you all can do is just wait it out and hope its fixed soon =(

Three Victorian lines of mine are currently offline, and have been very erratic this morning.

Nice post, updated my perspective of things alot. That would explain a ton, since was from the start thinking of huge congestion. Thank you.

Are any of you noticing speed issues as well as latency problems?

When connection is going its fine, no real ping difference from normal. But when the problem arises its almost like a brick wall has been placed in between my internet and the outside world. Nothing works, not any games, not any internet browsers (I use firefox). No programs were installed, no viruses detected or any such thing.

My Netcomm ADSL PPP connection icon on the task bar just shows activity for outgoing, and zero incoming. Its attempting to send information, but it cannot, and no information is being received.

Its not a ping issue, its a connection issue. A few times my adsl connection has disconnected, meaning I have to reconnect. Most times it stays connected but nothings happening for say, 10 seconds to anywhere to 30. Then after that 30 seconds I may have recieved a tiny bit of information, updating the game, yet it chain spikes and goes on that way for up to say, a few minutes. At those times I just keep watching T.V and resume what im doing on currently Runescape. :(

The problem is it cuts in and out. seems to be fast when it gets a reply, but there is a lot of lost packets.

ya, normally when my ppp light goes out, my adsl light goes out too and then it reconnects giving me a new connection speed. right now the adsl light remains on when the ppp light goes out, I dont reconnect getting a new connection speed - just a void of time with no internet

Another "me too" post!

ADSL1 (Sunshine).

It's taken me about 30 mins to get a "reply" screen to post.

Well to the last 2 or so posts ive not had adsl lights go off or etc. But the connection seems to be getting slowed and stopped temporarily at some source or another for anywhere from 10, to 20 seconds, and at least once per 3 mins, and sometimes nonstop chain 'combos' of it. So my problem isn't the same as yours maybe :(

EDIT: And yes TijN put it nicely as in 'cutting in and out'. Pings are fine, just connection issues =( Just realized that is a pretty good description of whats going on with me.

No connection here Tim so I can't test speed issues or latency problems.

Any idea what the problem might be? Sounds like wholesale provider issue to me.
