Speeds capped 12:am-12:pm

Post by G-Box » Thu May 13, 2010 12:40 pm

Hello,
I couldn't even make it to these forums last night after 12:00am and up until 12:01pm today.
Every site was timing out both national sites and internationally. I couldn't even make it to http://www.ozspeedtest.com/ to conduct a speed test.
Queued up some torrents & managed to download @ max of 55KBps, stopping them and trying to browse was a nightmare and not possible, couldn't use Voip this morning due to this 'capping' or network issues?

Victoria ADSL 1 8192/384 FP-D2 Plan

My plan is supposed to be unlimited, so I'm not sure why I am getting an unusable service after 12:00am-12:00pm... Hopefully this was a network error?
People have also posted about this issue on whirlpool and in 'adsl1 connection issues'

If exetel staff could please comment that would me much appreciated.

I posted in the Live support channel with no success. I would just really appreciate a 'heads up' if my internet is going to remain like this for the upcoming days?
It seems to some form of shaping as net was unusable from exactly 12:01am-12:01pm... Which is unusual as I signed a contract for an unlimited plan.

[12:15] <G-Box> Hello, last night from 12:00am-12:01pm today I seem to have been capped/throttled? Net was unusable, not able to browse or use voip. Sites timing out etc... Was wondering if their is a problem exetel is aware about? Note I'm on the FP-D2 Unlimited plan... Thanks : - )

This seems to of effected a lot of people including myself on adsl2. There are a few threads on whirlpool about it.
Not sure if it was a network issue or capping.

Hello, I have lodged a fault ticket #2715904#.

The moment the clock ticks 12:00am my connection is being shaped. I'm only 2 months into a 12 month contract that was UNLIMITED offpeak 12:00am-12:00pm. However I'm now being shapped/throttled/capped from 12:00am-12:00pm it seems. Numerous posts on here and on whirlpool forums indicate this is not an isolated incident.

My net is unusable in this state:
*I'm unable to log into gmail.
*I tried 50+ times to make it to these forums without the sites timing out.
*I cannot use voip
*I cannot surf or use the internet in general.

Very happily been with Exetel for nearly 5 years and spent over $5,500 in that time. Referred 3 people never requesting the 'bonus referral' & as of the other night referred a 4th person and went with the $10 bonus.

If I could I please have some assistance as to why my connection is being shaped that would be appreciated.

I've been shaped during off peak period as well. Clearly "unlimited" isn't unlimited without shaping which is something we were never advised of. Lure us into 12mo contract for the unlimited plan & then this happens. Great.

WHAT ARE THE RULES?!

Network speeds vary for different users for different reasons and include many factors outside Exetel's control.
