I am on the Central Coast and I had this low speed problem this morning at 7am . I turned my modem off for half hour and when I turned it on at 7:30am my speed was back to normal and has been since then .

i'm up to around 5Mbps, thats still only a third of my normal speed though....

hopefully it'll keep improving...

speeds are still not what they should be, only getting 400kb/s download, thats a quarter of what it should be

The last speed test I can see is November 10th, 2010 10:55pm 4703.9 kbps (which is about 4Mbps).

Can you please provide the DSL sync rate noted from your modem ?

The speeds do seem lower, but the issue needs to be troubleshooted to rule out some possibilities (such as your modem having QoS configuration).

Can you please email to residentialsupport@exetel.com.au a link to this forum?

i have a new aspect to the problem

we have 3 computers in the house that use our internet, one desktop which is connected directly to the router and 2 laptops that access the net wirelessly

both the desktop (the computer i'm currently on and discovered the problem on) and the older of the 2 laptops are getting speeds of 3.5-4Mbps but my personal laptop which is newer (a year old) gets the full connection.......16Mbps and a 1.67MB/s download speed......

This is affecting me as well. No matter what I download my speed does not go over 1.7Mbits. I sync at 12Mbits and previously would easily download at over a 1MByte/s.

I haven't run speed tests during peak period yet. All these tests were performed during off peak. I have a fault lodged but the support staff won't acknowledge that this maybe a network issue. My ticket ID is 3407211

Reply to the ticket to request to have it looked into further. If unsuccessful you can send the ticket details to resolution@exetel.com.au to have it investigated further

Well I was out of the country when this issue happened but I think it is still happening to me!! I am getting extremely slow connection speeds....speed test is giving me less than 1 mbps!!
I have been doing everything that exetel tell me but this is ridiculous!! nothing on the line has changed!! I have had naked adsl for about 2 years now and the internet was working fine before i left!!
Argh! Help!!
I have raised a ticket (no 3429813) but seems to slow responses and just useless guidance given that i have stated that i am getting slow speeds, the support engineer is trying to 'help' me fix drop outs!!

This was incorrect.

I can see from the ticket though, that the DSL Sync speed is slow.
We've done copper line tests on your service and these reveal normal results for your line.

However, the speed and attenuation aren't right.

Kavinda sent an email earlier, test an alternative cable between the modem and wall socket, and see if the DSL Sync rate is improved, if not, test your modem on another ADSL2+ enabled line and see if you can get a higher downstream rate (check your modem status page for what speed you acheive). Alternatively, borrow a modem and test it on your line.

With the testing above done, you should find the cause of the issue, or we'll be in a better position to identify the cause of the slow speeds (external line issues or modem issues).

I seem to have similar issues. I originally had phone line interference and telstra finally fixed it.
Now I'm synching at 15xxx kbps down and 1022kbps up and getting sporadic download speeds ranging from 2mbps to 4.5mbps.

I have an open case with exetel support. Hope they will come up with a solution though.
