How will I be charged if I decided to cancel my service?

Post by Flyingself » Fri Nov 19, 2010 1:16 pm

Could anyone tell me how i will be charged for the last billing period if i decide to cancel my exetel service?
I've already finished my fixed term contract long time ago.
Will I only need to pay for the prorata charge for the month that I will cancel the service?
Thanks.

From the website at http://www.exetel.com.au/c_billing_faq.php
What Happens If I Cancel My Exetel ADSL Service?

You may cancel your Exetel ADSL service at any time by notifying Exetel via the User Facilities of the date you wish your service to terminate.

Your account will be cancelled on the day you nominate in the Change Your Plan > 'Terminate Service' option in the Secure Users Facility.

If you cancel your service within the initial contract period you will incur a cancellation fee of $100.00.

If you cancel your service after the initial service period has expired there is no penalty or charge.

ADSL services are billed one month in advance and no refund/rebate of that monthly charge is made for any days not used; it is therefore in your own interests to arrange to move away from Exetel at the end of a billing period.

Should i norminate the cancellation date as the last day of the billing period or the first day of next billing period?

You'll have a fresh deduction on the 1st, so no. As close to the last day as can be managed with the date any new ISP can do a reconnection.

Thanks for that. I'll ask for the website to be updated to the current policy.

The email actually stated something that only applied to the customer at the time. I asked the billing manager and he said that nothing on that page should be changed.
