OCV200 Bundled ADSL with telephone service

Post by peter.tory » Thu Jan 06, 2011 6:13 am

I could be blind but I cannot find any information regarding - "what happens to my voip telephone number if I change to this new Optus plan?"

Do I revert to my old PSTN number or can I keep my existing voip number? I think it's important enough that it should be clearly visible at the 'top of the page'...!

Do the new naked replacement plans (OCV) count uploads towards the 200gb allowance,

I cannot find any mention of this in the FAQ in regards to the OCV services

No. Only downloads are counted

On the sign up form https://www.exetel.com.au/members/servi ... bundle.php in "member services", for say the OCV200 plan, there is a section as follows:

Code: Select all

I would like these Exetel services

[ ] A full telephony service (this includes local calls, long distance and service and equipment charges)
[ ] I understand that my monthly access charge will increase by $10.00 per month if I choose to use another provider for long distance calls
 [ ] * Yes, I am the account holder.
Could someone confirm for me that if I select all three of these check boxes, my monthly charge is $60.00? (ASL2 Monthly Access Charge + Line Rental Monthly Charge). I'm just suppose to select all three right?

Yes, I can confirm that it is $60 if you select all three of those check boxes.

The first one gives you a PSTN line. This is good.

The second one means that you agree to make your long distance calls via Exetel/Optus. Those calls are FREE on OCV200. So a no-brainer (or pay $10 per month for the priviledge of paying for those free calls).

The third one should only be ticked if you are the account holder.

I may as well ask this here instead of starting a new thread. I am very interested in this new OCV200 plan, but am just about to move houses. Could I organise for it to be set up at my new house at the start of next month? It would probably save both me and the technicians a lot of hassle.

Are you currently on a Naked plan. If so, then I'd suggest you email residentialsales@exetel.com.au as I suspect this is possible.

If you are not currently on a Naked plan, then the OCV plans are not available to you

Hi,
I am currently on a naked plan under contract, and got the offer to move to OCV200.
When I entered the naked plan I used the option to have my old PSTN number become my VOIP number.
I would like to have that number become the PSTN number again.
I have read Q3 of the FAQ which states that that is possible. I would like to confirm this in my case, though, because in the mean time I have moved, and am now on a different exchange. Moved from Ryde to Carlingford exchange, NSW.

Can I have my old Ryde PSTN number (which is now my VOIP number) become my new Carlingford PSTN number?

If not, then I assume from Q2 that I can keep that number as VOIP, and get a new Carlingford PSTN number. Is that correct?

Hi sorry to hijack this thread. I have tried to change my current ADSL1 plan over to this one but my change service status says "NO OPTUS ADSL2 AVAILABLE". Does this mean there are no ports or I am on a Rim?? or the fact that I am just too far from the the exchange (Wollongong DA158). Line of sight 3824m. I have feeling I will be on ADSL1 for a while to come.

Normally means that there is no Optus infrastructure in your exchange. But since Wollongong seems to have all sorts of infrastructure (see http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/viewex ... hange=WLGG) I would assume it means you are connected to a RIM, yes.

Thanks, can't seem to tell from that web site. Nearest Rim is approx 2kms away so can't tell if I am on one. Would there be any point applying again? Really do like the OCV200 plan. Speed I can live with but the phone bundle is great. Downloads combined (peak+offpeak )never go over 50GB.

Apologies for another question.
When I check http://sq.exetel.com.au/cgi-bin/adsl2_nf_no_phone.pl with my service number I receive "connected To WLGG exchange, which is ADSL2 enabled. we are able to provide ADSL2 for your premises".

When I check http://sq.exetel.com.au/cgi-bin/adsl2_nf_with_phone.pl with my service number I receive
Exchange Code: WLGG
Exchange Availability: YES
Exchange Capacity Reached: NO
Telephone Service Availability: Transfer Current Telephone Service Available
ADSL2 Service Availability: Not available now
Theoretically Estimated Low Speed: 80
Theoretically Estimated High Speed: 80

What does this mean??

On the surface, that means you can get AAPT provided "No phone" plans but not Optus provided "with phone" plans. However, the "80" for estimated speeds are strange. Email residentialsales@exetel.com.au with your address and phone number and ask them to confirm the availability of ADSL2+ for you
