relocating/moving...problem

what do i do?

i move house on thursday 5th april. right on easter shut down.
where i am moving to is same exchange and both telstra and extel have told me i can get ADSL2 at the address.....despite RIMS.
i have decided to test this and try and see what speeds i get even tho the liklihood is that they might be slow.
so............ i will move off AAPT and go to Telstra based plan

i have had two conversation with sales today.
one says, again, that yes i can get service of adsl 2....just like telstra tell me tho they would rather i go cable.
given the break of easter holidays i am assuming that an application lodged by phone on 5 april...... when i activate my phone via telstra..... will not be processed by telstra til the following tuesday 4th at the earliest.
after that i am told it is 4-6 days IF they decide they can actually really really do the service at the distance it is from the exchange.
that means at best, i can be without internet for 10 days and possibly 15 or so.
most people seem to have cable in that area

second conversation was about what was the best process to follow to get it all organized so i didnt loose emails.
i was informed that emails are only held for 7 days.
after that i have to pay $30 an email address to have them kept for 6 months.
the woman checked that 7 day bit
i am beyond words.
i cant control the time it will take to get me a new service. if it runs over the obvious 10 days because of easter.....something like $30 times 8 email addresses is pretty high price to pay.

is there no options around this at all??

all i am asking is to have the emails available for 2 weeks, which i think is reasonable time for holding because of the holidays and because of the possibility that exetel might not in the end be able to supply. i would then have to go telstra cable .
i want to stay with exetel but my initial inquirey about that address many months ago said no plans were available there.
now i am told they are. i do believe they are.......speed is the issue. there are at least 2 RIMS there.
i am prepared to try the service at least and see what results i get

my questions are
how do i efficiently handle this
how do i convince someone to keep emails on web mail at least, til a new service is set up or at least a service denied and a few days left for us to scramble for something else

i do want to use exetel but after a few stressful months i didnt want to hear this :( :(

is it simply easier to forget it and move to telstra cable and plan to do that now so that we can plan new emails and for cabling.
i just really really dont want this to be so hard or to leave exetel unless i have to but to loose so many emails or the addresses because of a few days over easter seems hard

thanks

I've tried to get in touch with you a couple of times, however, was unable to.

I will not be able to confirm service availability at the new location as I don't have sufficient information to run a service availability check.

With regards to keeping the 8 exemail accounts active for 2 weeks after the cancellation of your ADSL service, it will cost you $30 for all email accounts as long as they are under the same customer ID.

If you need further assistance please do email residentialsales@exetel.com.au with your query quoting the subject of the forum post so that I can assist you further.

i was here or on my mobile
very odd
service availability to the new address has been confirmed, as i said, by both telstra and exetel.
i have known for 2 months i was moving to this address and have tried to do it as effectively and efficiently as possible after discussions with exetel staff.

i was asked a few weeks ago to call up on 23 rd march to do an application to exetel so u could do a test application to telstra.
that was so that there could be some gauge made to see if the application would work come 5 april.... or if there would be hiccoughs, .
that was how it was put to me anyway.
so i called back as requested

i am porting my phone number to the new address which is with optus currently.
i have made arrangements for the phone to be connected on the morning of the day i move. i have medical priority so i have no reason to believe there will be any problem that telstra wont solve effectively for me on that day

$30 for the emails attached to my account for 2 weeks is a much better deal than $30 each :)
thank you

i will PM u the address but like i said it has been checked for availability twice by exetel.
the service is there . at what speed is the question and how long it takes to connect.
i do understand that much is out of your hands and i accepted that..... but i was asked to call back today and i did..... and got information i did not want to hear :o

PM coming to u

thanks
