My ping results have improved consistently for the last two days, to only a smidge over what I was seeing before the changeover.
All I need now is for an Exetel rep to give some indication here that it is due to overt action, and that we can expect it to remain this way....

Yeah Im hearing ya.
Ive asked that and got no reply.
I dont know why its better or if its going to stay that way. Something has to of changed and it would be nice to know what it was and not just cross our fingers it stays that way.
Im now getting consistent 2.0MB/s and 45ms pings to google most of the time and everything is working as it should. It does still slow somewhat during the peak, peak times to just over 1MB/s but I can still stream iView to one pc during those times. Im getting sick of sounding like a broken record but if its stays like this I guess Ill accept it.

Have been logging my speed retrieving a 1.5 MB zip file every 15 minutes from my user home page at exetel, started the 10th of November when I became aware there really was something wrong with my connection. I think I am approx 3 km from the exchange, initially some doubt that I would be granted ADSL connection but in the end I got a 128/512 connection and later a 256/1500 kb/s generally I have been very happy with a 160-165 kB/s download.

Only the late inordinary low speeds made me look closer quickly setting up a crude automatic recording system that could run 24 hours aunattended. At my location I saw after a few days the trend that I would generally have good speeds above 150 kB/s from 1 in the morning to about 16.00 in the afternoon. From then on it would deteriorate down around 20 kB/s. This is broadly spoken as there were some days it varied when the bad running took place.

About 5 days ago I stopped recording during the night and now as of today I have not recorded anything except a few Exetel tests as it seems my connection is working very well and since I am not paying for this month anyway I have no problem waiting a couple of weeks more as I think that when the capacity problem get sorted out I will have much better speed than I have ever had.

The reason I will have better speed is probably mainly due to the fact that I think I have a bad but not failing filter on my first phone, with the filter and phone removed I am getting consistent night speeds around 310 kB/s which is almost twice what I can get with both phones connected. I will look into this later when I can find time to do some testing.

Right now at about 19.00 I have just done an Exetel speed test ( one phone removed of course) and I am getting 190 kB/s and 30 minutes ago I was getting 250 kB/s this is unusually high for me at this time.

I might just start the recording for the next 4-5 hours and see how it varies. :D

With the higher speeds I should have increased the file size as the time of only 6 or 7 seconds now becomes an error factor. The results are however good enough, as an Exetel test run confirms the ball park figures.

Your current bandwidth reading is: 1.99 Mbps
which means you can download at 254.79 KB/sec. from our servers.

I've been waiting to see if this situation improved any more than it already has and it seems it probably won't, will exetel still waive contract fees if I churn due to this degradation in performance?

Hi Kamma,

We are not able to waive off cancellation fee if you disconnect the service after 30th November as stated in the email that our CEO sent you.

Eroshanj strickly speaking that email was sent out assuming a fix would occur early which we know never did. Kamma if you email ceo@ you may get a better response as many have ask for and got an extension. Pretty sure it was also posted on facebook.
