Mike, put a www on the front of the URL, and you'll find the Akamai server. Plain smh.com.au has a 301 redirediction, and won't reply.

Re: Issues Monday afternoon.
I'm also having issues with several sites including http://www.smh.com.au. In fact most news sites seem to be not responding for me yet many other sites are fine like google. It seems quite random. It's like they are victims of a DoS attack but it's very broad and is affecting Australian and UK sites from what I can see.
Re: Issues Monday afternoon.
Have you checked the IPs being returned to you for the sites with dig or nslookup?
Re: Issues Monday afternoon.
I'm having trouble with ebay atm....won't load.
Loads with my mobile though on 3g network!

Re: Issues Monday afternoon.
All these sites work for me. Either something's gone awry with routing or perhaps there is some DNS mischief about. The Exetel name server is returning the correct IP for the Herald, as shown above.
Re: Issues Monday afternoon.
Yes I was using googles dns servers (8.8.8.
, switched to exetels and Ok now. Was affecting Grays online as well.

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for your help Dazzled. I too was using google's dns servers. I started using them to resolve a previous dns issue with ncsoft sites not propergating to this part of the world. Something is obviously very messed up with the google dns servers today.
