ADSL2+ Connection too slow

Post by Farid » Thu May 02, 2013 2:07 am

Hello.
Previously I have had speeds around 9 Mbps to 12 Mbps on my ADSL2+ with Exetel. Nothing has changed except I have changed plans with Exetel. My connection has often been slow most of the time since: Usual speeds are from below 1 Mbps to 4 Mbps! Hardly ever goes beyond 7 Mbps, and even then, it would be a quick and short period of excitement, before everything slows back down to somewhere below 1 Mbps to 4 Mbps. Used to be happy with the service, but since upgrading the plan, rather regretful/disappointed :(

Cheers,
Farid

Hi Wartai,

Checking through the systems I could see as you mentioned, modem is getting a line sync rate over 11M. However when performing a metallic line test when your devices are connected, some parameters are not within the specifications. Therefore I have created a ticket with a reference number 6515819.

Please arrange the following since we need to check whether this issue is causing from the external line or not. All devices need to be disconnected, including any alarms, foxtel, modems, phones and fax machines. Once the line is completely ready, please advise us and we will run the test. You may wish to call us at 1300788141 or 0280301000 to arrange the test; you may quote your ticket # 6515819. :)

Thanks .. i just noticed that my connection was reset and now my speeds are way better, but now sync at 8mbit, before I was sync at 11mbit (for last 5 years).. My download speed is around 800KB/sec now, where before it was 1000 - 1100KB/sec..
I usually dont have any problems.

Yes a basic reset has been performed and now the modem is achieving a line rate of 8617KB. As i told you considering the line test results speeds may vary. However actual speed has improved a lot comparing to what you had a moment a go. Therefore it is better to monitor the service further and if it reduce or not stable, please contact the support line as stated in my above thread with your reference number.
