Slow ADSL connection

Post by user13 » Thu Aug 08, 2013 12:57 am

Hi,

I've noticed, for the past week or more, my ADSL connection seems much slower than it used to be. Even after midnight when I used to get faster speeds it's still very slow.

I did a speed test from the link on the Exetel site and the results are:

Your current bandwidth reading is:
7.25 Mbps
which means you can download at 928.1 KB/sec. from our servers.

I have a NetComm NB6Plus4Wn modem/router running firmware version 3.104d

Here is a print out of the modem stats:

Line Mode ADSL2+
Line Power State L0
Line Coding Trellis On

Statistics Downstream Upstream
Line Rate 11204 Kbps 812 Kbps
Attainable Line Rate 13196 Kbps 976 Kbps
Noise Margin 11.9 dB 15.1 dB
Line Attenuation 27.0 dB 10.4 dB
Output Power 0.0 dBm 12.5 dBm
MSGC (number of bytes in overhead channel message) 55 10
B (number of bytes in Mux Data Frame) 122 116
M (number of Mux Data Frames in FEC Data Frame) 2 1
T (Mux Data Frames over sync bytes) 3 1
R (number of check bytes in FEC Data Frame) 8 0
S (ratio of FEC over PMD Data Frame length) 0.7007 4.5659
L (number of bits in PMD Data Frame) 2900 205
D (interleave depth) 64 1
Delay 11 1
Super Frames 16847268 15002055

Data Cells 100640828 31319
Bit Errors 0 0
Total ES 46 0

Total UAS 32 0

I recently powered off my modem for 30mins but that didn't change anything.

Hi,

If this is a case already raised to Exetel as a fault please PM me the reference number. If not please PM your service number enabling us to look in to the matter in detail.

Cheers

hellooo

having the same issues here at the moment and the past few days/week.

some tests from this morning keeping in mind my normal line speed any other day is ~19000kbs and d/l speed 1.92mbs

I have already contacted Telstra and confirmed noise on the line by their technicians tests, whilst on hold, have been given a completion time frame of Friday evening at the latest, no biggy no charge, but according to my modem stats they're not looking to support line noise theory.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 18640 kbps 1022 kbps
Line Attenuation 23 db 6 db
Noise Margin 6 db 7 db

maybe someone can throw some light on this and explain to me, not that clever, or even have a bit of a look see if there maybe other evil forces at play.
