Ok, so let me get this straight. Exetel are offering new customers a 100GB ADSL2+ plan for $39.95 (Including $20 line rental).
I'm currently on a 20GB plan for the same price.
I'm an existing customer though, and have been since 2005 and yet it seems like I'd have to apply for a new plan in order to get the 100GB plan? Is this true?
ADSL2+ plans.

Correct.
Re: ADSL2+ plans.
So it'll cost $99 to move over to a new plan as you'd have to essentially cancel your current plan and sign on as a "new" customer.

Ok. So why can't I just swap over to the new plan? I find it unfair that an Exetel customer for 9 years has to pay $99 to switch over to a better plan that a NEW customer would already get.
Re: ADSL2+ plans.
This has been the case since September last year. Most of us have given up seeing the new plans without bending over and taking one in the form of the $99 just to get better pricing. Some have even left for other providers.
Re: ADSL2+ plans.
There are other larger threads on this topic, The Rock, where you can read more. Exetel have passed on a wholesale discount which the carriers are offering only for new connections to their service. There is at present no date known when this wholesale price might become general.
Over your 9 years you will have observed special deals being passed on to a section of users before.
