Currently only one computer connect to modem via lan. Wireless disabled.
My modem shows line speed 812 / 11,999. but ozspeedtest result is line speed is 0.66Mbps and download speed is 0.08Mbps
I tried to reboot the modem but the result is the same

I want to add my name to the list of those experiencing issues. For the past fortnight, speeds during afternoon and evening use have been terrible, with slow page loads, issues streaming, and torrent traffic stalled.

My line looks fine:
Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin (dB) 18.4 6.0
Attenuation (dB) 3.5 6.5
Output Power (dBm) 13.8 4.1
Attainable Rate (Kbps) 12648 480
Rate (Kbps) 8160 384
My download speeds also look fine:
Results Test run on 25/11/2014 @ 09:17 PM
Your Line Speed 6.95 Mbps (6,948 kbps)
Your Download Speed 869 KB/s (0.85 MB/s)
My ping to Exetel is fine:
Pinging www.exetel.com.au [220.233.0.9] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 220.233.0.9: bytes=32 time=22ms TTL=60
Reply from 220.233.0.9: bytes=32 time=21ms TTL=60
Reply from 220.233.0.9: bytes=32 time=20ms TTL=60
Reply from 220.233.0.9: bytes=32 time=20ms TTL=60
But my ping to Google and the broader internet is awful:
Pinging www.google.com.au [74.125.23.94] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 74.125.23.94: bytes=32 time=154ms TTL=47
Reply from 74.125.23.94: bytes=32 time=153ms TTL=47
Reply from 74.125.23.94: bytes=32 time=156ms TTL=47
Reply from 74.125.23.94: bytes=32 time=157ms TTL=47
I would love some insight into what's happening. It seems like the issue is further upstream, but I'm confused why when the network utilisation graphs for Exetel NSW show nothing like peak usage.

If you could send us a trace route result to outside network, we could see where the delay is. Looking at the ping times and speed test, I don't see any delay within Exetel network.

HI there,

I must be coming up to 10 years with exetel, and am a loyal user. But the speeds have deteriorated recently.

I just submitted my NBN application with Exetel, but am now worried. My ADSL speeds are painfully slow today. Most days they are bearable, but today, it's taken me 10 mins to come here.

Reading the wider web about exetel says my concerns are not just mine, but there has been a general slowdown.

Would exetel like to comment?

EDIT: speeds have returned. Weird.

Edit 2: i just want to apologise, pretty sure it was me uploading stuff, saturating the link. I apologise.

Im curious if anyone has had this problem resolved, and if so, what was the cause?

Day before yesterday, we received an increased number of inquiries from VIC, but this got resolved yesterday. Our engineers are yet investigating what caused the issue.

Other than above, we take each case individually and troubleshoot, to identify any issues affecting the service.

I'm having similar difficulties (see ticket number 8540750). In the evenings especially, speed drops to less than 1 mb/s, so quickflix and presto services stop working, and web pages generally are slow to load. I ran speed tests using speedtest.net and ozspeedtest (what happened to exetel.com.au/speed ?) with very variable results ( done with filters/phones disconnected),

Are the current unplanned outages in SPRINGWOOD and WINMALEE, NSW isolated to exchange connectivity, or is there an issue with the data from there to the Exetel network (through Telstra)? If so, could my issue in WARRIMOO be related?

We will check and update you via the same 8540750 ticket.

My speeds have seemed fine again in the last 2 days - downloads are solid and browsing is mostly decent. However I still have ping anomalies to certain sites. Optus.com.au returns in 20ms as expected but Google continues to have lag:
Tracing route to www.google.com.au [74.125.23.94]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.1
2 20 ms 19 ms 29 ms 160.1.233.220.static.exetel.com.au [220.233.1.16
0]
3 20 ms 20 ms 21 ms 10.1.21.45
4 19 ms 19 ms 19 ms 170.8.96.58.static.exetel.com.au [58.96.8.170]
5 19 ms 20 ms 20 ms 66.249.95.234
6 117 ms 131 ms 174 ms 209.85.249.52
7 128 ms 127 ms 128 ms 209.85.243.164
8 153 ms 154 ms 156 ms 209.85.242.56
9 152 ms 154 ms 154 ms 209.85.249.7
10 * * * Request timed out.
11 153 ms 152 ms 154 ms tg-in-f94.1e100.net [74.125.23.94]
This appears to be beyond the Exetel network but I'm not sure why the routing looks like it does.
