NSW Wollongong - PPPoE dropping semi regular this last week
Hello,
Currently stuck on ADSL2 via the Wollongong exchange, copper path is very short and I receive excellent service 99.9% of the time.
In the last few days I have been receiving a number of PPPoE dropouts on my router - Isolation and new hardware all receiving the same thing.
I run Gargoyle on my home router which will automatically reestablish the connection after 30s-2 minutes, same experience on both a stock $20 modem router job from the store and a legacy DDWRT router.
Line SYNC isn't lost at all during this time, just the PPPoE connection.
I know they are doing a fair bit of work in this area with NBN establishments and go lives in this period, just wanted to check if I'm an outlier or this is to be expected in Wollongong for the new few days.
Thanks,
Rohan

NBN work may affect other services, but our supplier has not marked any planned issues in the area. Looking at the dropouts, could you please check the PSTN in isolation and see if the dial tone is clear. Also have you tried the modem in isolation?GateheaD wrote:Hello,

Hi, I've been experiencing the same problem in Albion Park over the last few days, usually in peak periods:
So obviously nothing to do with direct construction work which would occur during business hours. As shown in the logs there is quite a big disturbance happening about now.

Symptoms may be similar as you are reporting dropouts. However, please note that the 3 service reported so far in the thread are connected in to 3 different exchanges. Hence, please follow the basic TS and report us if any investigation is required on your individual services.shakows wrote:Exact same issue I'm having, but I'm off the Narara Exchance

Re: NSW Wollongong - PPPoE dropping semi regular this last w
Have tested the phone like quality during a heavy black out period (7-9pm) and it sounded fine as far as a phone line goes anyway.
Due to this & the link light being active i'm not sure this is a physical problem.
I'll be away from the area until friday so I wont be able to follow up until then.
Thanks,
Rohan

I never loose DSL sync when I have dropouts
Dropouts were occurring very heavily around 9-1050pm last night
Then it was perfect till now
Had a dropout at 1604 and then 1612
On the phone to support, 18 in queue with a 30 min wait time estimated

Let me know how it goes, I'm unable to test anything at the moment as I'm on the road but if it turns out to be a problem from their end I can worry less about whats broken.shakows wrote: On the phone to support, 18 in queue with a 30 min wait time estimated
