Unable to connect - ppp authentication fail
Unable to connect - ppp authentication fail
So last night my dsl connection dropped out and ever since I've been unable to connect with my modem (a netcomm nb6plus4wn) showing ppp authentication failure errors.
Now I tried rebooting my modem, and then left it till this morning hoping it would rectify itself. No luck there so I lodged a ticket.
Anyway I guess one question will be whether I'm using a wrong password. Now my modem just remembers the same password I always used. So I don't see that as a issue, but if
I'm asked to reset my modem to default I don't think I know that password anymore. i've been using the same password since exetel started. Just what are the default passwords? I seem to recall it involved my phone number and street name or something.

Re: Unable to connect - ppp authentication fail
Same here, Hornsby ADSL2+ via Optus. ADSL is synced but no PPPoE or PPPoA authentication.
Re: Unable to connect - ppp authentication fail
Well my modem just connected. Huzzah.
Re: Unable to connect - ppp authentication fail
Our's went weird last night - dropped out about 9:30pm then reconnected itself, but got no IP address. I noticed the oddity of no address around 11:30pm, and after disconnecting it, it connected fine.
At work this morning, same problem. No address but apparently an active PPP session. Disconnected, attempted to reconnect, rebooted the router, etc.... Eventually it reconnected, but seemed to have quite a slow response to the authentication.
Hopefully everything stays up all day now

Re: Unable to connect - ppp authentication fail
FYI - I'm seeing drop outs as well in Thurgoona, sounds like its related to the ongoing issues.
Seems to happen in peak times but i've also had it this morning at 8am.
This is the logs from just last night after I started looking....
Hopefully you guys / Telstra will find the fault soon, while its dropping out its effectively unusable for whole blocks of time

Re: Unable to connect - ppp authentication fail
Our home connections been terrible tonight. Dropped a few times, including one of the PPP without IP address reconnections.
Is the emergency IOS upgrade aiming to fix these frequent PPP dropouts? Or is tonight's dropouts related to the work (not supposed to have started yet)?

Re: Unable to connect - ppp authentication fail
As the issue is ongoing for significant number of services, we have performed some network maintenance few minutes ago. We can already see the services experienced NoAuth came online.
Please monitor for dropouts as well and update us.

Re: Unable to connect - ppp authentication fail
Can confirm that there is still a PPP / IP issue for Corrimal exchange as well.

Re: Unable to connect - ppp authentication fail
Unfortunately the problem has returned, 4 days later and at around the same time, 8.30pm-ish. A little frustrating that this hardware problem has returned again!stevebow wrote:Back online again, as of around 9.30am.stevebow wrote:Same here, Hornsby ADSL2+ via Optus. Re: Unable to connect - ppp authentication fail
Kindly note that we have noticed few services are still suffering with the same issue. Currently we are working on a fix. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.
