What's with the missing avatars?

Post by thomashouseman » Tue Sep 30, 2008 12:13 pm

What's with the missing avatars? Where everyone's avatar used to appear, it now just says "User avatar" instead.

Hmm... display avatars in user settings is set to yes....
I'll get to the bottom of this...
Wasn't adblock plus blocking it....

OoooHHH... the URL is http://home.exetel.com.au/tnt/images/BARNEY200.gif and I have'nt moved the files from the old Exetel members web server to the new one.... would this be causing it?

I can't see your beloved avatar either, Thomas. Mine seems to be okay, but I don't host it on Exetel webspace - where do you host yours?

Maybe DBR is using a browser cached image... can anyone else see my avatar?

I would say that that would be quite likely.

It's interesting that the network I am on has a firewall that won't allow jpg but do allow gif through. jpg are rendered as grey squares. Ie:

Not I, Thomas. And I've never had one, so I don't know if mines not showing either.

Cheers,

Mike

Fixed!

It was Exetel not copying over my files to the new web server. Did it myself and now it's good as new!

I assume it is just my system, but is anyone else not getting avatars displayed? I have double checked 'display avatar' in user options.
I don't even get a field with missing avatar and "User avatar" display as discussed in this thread previously.
I get the same result in Firefox, IE and Opera, with firewall on/off.
Am running XP_pro_SP3 using AVG8 Internet security suite and have been seeing avatars before.
Other remote images load, just no avatars, lost them two days ago and don't think anything (?) has changed.
Any ideas...
