The Exetel 5-year club
Just a quick note to say that 5 years and two weeks ago, my ADSL1 service with Exetel was activated (April 14th, 2004). I was 15 months on ADSL1 then since then on ADSL2+ plus phone.
Our first invoice was Exetel's number 0000000865. They are now on E0002085159.
Just as happy since day one.

Really nice to hear.
Re: The Exetel 5-year club
I joined Exetel on 14 March 2004 and my first invoice number was 0000000338 for $145 connection fee. Now we have ADSL, HSPA, mobile, and VOIP with exetel.

I'm coming up to 5 years in the middle of May, my first invoice was 0000008045. That was 256/64 and 6 Gig. Now 8192/384 and 36gig.
Tempus fugit, does it not?

I joined Exetel on 29 March 2004 - churned from Swiftel
A leap into the unknown at the time, but I knew that with Forum Admin around life would never be dull
. Not only has it not been dull, but the range and quality of services Exetel now has available is second to none, and I've learnt a lot along the way.
My 512 ADSL1 service has morphed a few times since 2004. I'm currently on ADSL2+ inc phone with VOIP, and have HSPA with VOIP as a side dish.
I joined the Forum on 28 January 2004 and on 30 May 2004 was privileged to be asked by Forum Admin to become the Forum's first volunteer moderator/admin.
I've enjoyed every single minute, and am really looking forward to the next 5 years

Re: The Exetel 5-year club
All exetel really needs now is unmetered content, with its own mirrors of crap loads of files, game servers and thats about it (i know you have kind of started a mirror but at the same time its not unmetered, and i know you have game servers but i mean game servers like internode and gamearena.)
Then you guys would be pretty much perfect in every way.

Re: The Exetel 5-year club
I may not be a member of the "5 year club", but after the colapse of Veridas which caused a great little Sydney ISP, Curl Internet to go under, I joined Exetel after recommendation from a collegue on the 29/4/06 (3 years!) Back then I don't think there were that many Hobart users.
I couldn't be happier with the service, and await the "opening up" of Bass Link and the possibility of wider availability of ADSL2 in Hobart. I'm also considering HSPA to compliment my current ADSL service.
I mightn't always agree with JL's political views, but always enjoy reading his blogs.
Keep up the good work guys!

Re: The Exetel 5-year club
5 years this month.
While other telcos mislead and gouge customers (http://apcmag.com/the-dodgy-fine-print- ... r-caps.htm),
Exetel bend over backwards to add features and benefits, while at the same time effectively reducing charges.
Incredibly, they have a policy of not only informing customers of business decisions, but consulting them as well. IMO, this sets them apart from not just other telcos but most other businesses of any description.
Viva Exetel.

Re: The Exetel 5-year club
why not organize a get together to celebrate
Re: The Exetel 5-year club
My first attempt at joining Exetel was back in 13/3/04, but I got knocked back about 3 times because of incompatible line conditioning.
I remember being very frustrated at Telstra but it was too far back to remember the exact details of it.
I think if the posts have not been deleted, my enquiries may still be around.
Anyway I got connected on the 5/7/04 I think, so my 5th year with Exetel will come up pretty soon, which incidentally will coincide (pretty much) with my ADSL2+ contract finishing
Still going strong, with no real reason to switch to anything else so hopefully Exetel will still be in business as long as I want internet.

Re: The Exetel 5-year club
I joined 24/03/2004 so yeah, I am in the club.
It has been very good mostly with a few bumps along the way.

Re: The Exetel 5-year club
Yeah; Exetel is sure to continue its growth if they can sustain such advantages over other ISPs. After reading that article, does anyone know how much $$ companies are fined when a customer makes a complaint to the telecommunications industry ombudman?gs-pro wrote: While other telcos mislead and gouge customers (http://apcmag.com/the-dodgy-fine-print- ... r-caps.htm),

Re: The Exetel 5-year club
Like PM, we're not in the 5yr club but have been active for nearly 3 years as well - we signed up a few days after our exchange was ADSL1 enabled back in Sep 06
Cheers for a great-priced service
