Telstra doesn't think so..... Are you on a "shaped" plan, or have you been on one? On these you were given adequate leeway when you used your quota, and then the price went up. New plans require you to watch your downloads, but the excess fee is much less.

There are usage meters available, and if you only use one computer it isn't hard to code up a warning when your limit is approaching.

No, it's the rate that some users pay when they had selected the now defunct "shaping" option, where they had access to 2GB over their quota at no cost, then $6 per GB after that. The idea was to allow users who selected this, the opportunity to still check emails, and websurf, if they exceeded their quota.

If your plan indicates this over quota charge, send an email to Exetel to get it turned off.

It's still a lot cheaper than Telstra's $150 per GB over quota charge.
