DODO offer a 5gb/5gb 1500/256 plan for $34.90

Don't forget you risk the excess data fee of 18c per MB until the maximum plan cost is reached which is $69.90.

If you do the maths that is a buffer of 194.4* MB shared across both peak AND off-peak. Very little room for error or its an extra $35 on top of the bill for you!
... Nasty catch and possibly why they can afford the low base cost.

P.S. Also once you hit the cap you can either buy a pricey data block or upgrade to a more expensive plan.

EDIT: Just noticed this new plan on Whirlpool in the Exetel update ADSL1 plans posting.

This is exactly what I have been asking for- but it is not available to current Exetel users.

Why is this so?

Why not look after your current customers who have been loyal?

We completed the review of the ADSL1 plans earlier this morning adding a 1500/256 plan for $A35.00 per month with 10gb peak/10gb off peak which will be put on the web site when the resources become available.

There are no more planned changes to 1500 or 8192 ADSL1 plans.

We will now look at ADSL2 and wireless broadband.

As a long term Exetel customer you would know that any customer requested plan change only comes in to effect from the 1st of the following month and therefore we seldom update the user facilities before the last few days of the month.

There are rumours on Whirlpool, started by a guy who says he works or is affiliated with Telstra, that they will be releasing new plans on the 25th when they will be phasing out 1500k and slower plans. Everything will be 8000k or faster.

Does that make sense ?

Personally, I haven't talked to anyone from Telstra for a very long time - I can't remember the last time so I would have no idea of any future plans.

From what other people tell me - Telstra may well announce various new wholesale initiatives in the near future - what the details may be I don't know.
