No home phone service and slow internet

We are currently having an outage problem with our Exetel land line phone service (all we get is an electronic buzz on one phone, and no sound at all on another phone we connected and tested). We suspect this has been not working for two days now. Our ADSL2 service is still functioning, but it is noticeably slow (speed test reveals somewhere between dial up and ADSL). Calls to the landline from a mobile do not result in an error message, so callers will simply assume that we did not answer. Of course, we have tested several phones to isolate the error to the line itself. Have reset modem several times.

Our location is Cardiff Heights, NSW. Be really keen to hear from anybody (Exetel support have not responded yet) who may be able to shed light on this problem.
