Phone Stalker via Optus Home Phone

Post by aussierod » Thu Nov 22, 2012 10:40 pm

Hi.

We're getting some clown phone stalking us on our Optus home line we have with you.

Caller ID says it's a private number.

The caller talks in a hushed whisper and is threatening my mother.

Police cant do anything and tell us to talk to our carrier. (you)

We've only just moved over to Optus from Telstra where we had the same problem.

What do I do here with Exetel - Optus to have this law breaker stopped?

Cheers,
Rodney.

Hi Rodney,

If these calls are of life threatening nature you will first have to report them to the police and they will need to contact us for the investigations.

We've been to the police and they say to contact the carrier.

The unwanted stalker has suggested "gang banging", not death.

Telstra ran a trace for us about 6 months ago.

They caught someone eventually, but under the law weren't allowed to disclose who the bastard was.

It was a he, and he was using a mobile on a non-Telstra carrier that eventually cut the account off.

I'm guessing that clown has a new mobile number and is back again.

Most calls the clown just rings late at night and doesn't say anything.

What help can we get from Optus or is this one of those innocent people have to suffer at the feet of stalker situations?

Maybe Optus is allowed access to the old Telstar files? I have the Telstra report number here that I can PM to an admin if that helps?

Cheers,
Rodney.

Hi again. Received the email OK.

I'll respond to it when I attain the requested number of calls and accurate times and dates.
(The two calls we got last night were after 8.30pm, but I forgot to write the exact times down)

Thanks to all,
Rodney.

UPDATE: Just a quick note for other members that might need the same help in the future.

The unwanted caller will be thinking twice about making unwanted calls when he receives a warning letter from their carrier today or tomorrow.

We went through the same experience with Telstra last year, but they took months to do what Exetel and Optus have done in a few days.

Thanks for your professional speedy help, Exetel staff
