Trace and block caller?

Post by maggie » Wed Dec 09, 2015 11:48 am

Looks like there is a scam : https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2070827

I've been receiving these calls most weeks for the last 6 months. First time I nearly passed out when caller told me some one in my household had been involved in a car accident. I was home alone at the time. I've done all the usual things. Hang up on them, asked them to remove my number, asked them for their name and number etc. I despise them, find it unsettling and resent a second of my time spent answering the phone only to find them there. Exetel provides my phone and want to see what can be done to stop these calls.

Hi maggie,

This is indeed a very complicated problem. The thread you have quoted highlights this clearly.

Take all the precautions mentioned in that thread. I have also checked and see that your number is not listed on Whitepages.

From our end if a request is sent to residentialsupport@exetel.com.au we can activate call trance and try to get this blocked. However if the caller is truly using random numbers this would not be possible as well.

Information with regards to call trace can be found here - http://www.optus.com.au/shop/support/an ... come_Calls_

Hope this helps.

Thanks Kumudh. I've put in a request to residential support.
