Outage Affecting Residential Services 25/9/10

Event

One of two circuits connecting residential services to the Exetel server data centre failed at approximately 8:40am. The 2nd circuit did not activate in backup mode correctly.

The circuit fault was identified as a supplier switch/router fault

The cause of no fail-over to the 2nd circuit is under investigation.

Service was restored at approximately 9:35am.

Impact

DNS resolution and loss of access to all Exetel server based services for most customers for the duration of the outage

Dear Customer,

PIPE Networks wishes to advise of an unscheduled outage that occured this
morning in part of our MPLS network in Sydney. A hardware fault resulted
in a break in service for Ethernet and IP circuits for some customers with
services in North Sydney through to Chatswood and surrounding areas.
