Please move this topic if it is in the wrong location, I saw several boards where it could go.
I have written a free android app called "WebSMS: Exetel Connector" which provides an Exetel connector for the WebSMS app. This means that you can easily send 5c SMS' via Exetel's web service from an android phone.
You need to install the WebSMS app (free, with some ads) before installing this app. It can also send SMS' via the normal mobile network or via a number of other webservices (if you install the relevant connectors).
Enjoy!

Sounds good. Another option is 'intelliSMS' which works very well as a standalone program. Unfortunately its not on the Market yet, but the APK can be downloaded by asking 'Len' on the WP forums for it.
Maybe this will encourage him to put intelliSMS on the market too. Options are a Good Thing(tm), as that way theres always something available for anyone.

There's a copy at
http://www.exetel.com.au/Exetel_SMS_API ... tation.pdf
Edit: I've got Android for i386 lurking somewhere, and have been meaning to put curl on it if it's not there already. I see from Googling that it has been installed on Android phones. Then using the API would be a simple curl invocation.

Thanks Dazzled, however what I wanted was the page to generate/register the API user/pass, as I can't find it in any of the logical places on the website. I eventually found it on the site map, however the label is a little obscure, it would help it it had API in it.
Anyway, I posted suggestions for improvement on the web site fixes thread, so hopefully Shady rationalizes it.

Hi there.
I've been using this and it's great but... when I receive an SMS it appears to come from say +61412345678. I hit reply in SMSdroid (the companion, it seems, to WebSMS) and it opens WebSMS to send my reply. But the number is in the form +61412345678. When I try to send I get a message back saying it could not be sent. When I try to resend it the number is now showing as +61412345678 <+61412345678>
Is it possible to get the connector to reformat the number so the Exetel site accepts them?

Did you ever get this sorted?
I use IntelliSMS (which is now on the Market, yay!) on a 1.6 device just fine, and on a 2.2 device with the same resolution screen as the Tattoo just fine.

Please note that "LHVWB" will be able to answer that for you.

webSMS from the market also has an exetel connector and works a treat using either 2.2 or 3.1
