SMS Charges and 1st October 2010

Postby seamonkey on Tue Oct 05, 2010 12:39 pm

Hi all,
With these well communicated price increases to SMS (I'll go with the 5 cent increase, NOT the 100% price increase lol )Well, it appears from looking at this months invoicing to date, it all still mentions a 5 cent charge. Did it go through? (the price increase) Whats the latest. Cos I plan on doing a lot more SMS'ing especially now that I have my VPhone via iPad up and running. I really like the look of the Exetel MOIP app, but VPhone allows me to use both Exetel and Pennytel at once.
Reason for my question about SMS is that once increase for SMS does go through I unfortunately may have to switch to pennytel for SMS as its 5 cents still and 50 free per month. :( I dont want to but as i go mobile I see myself sending quite a few, cheers and thanks

Hi,

The invoice you received on October 1st, 2010 reflects the charges for SMS messages sent in September 2010. So this means messages sent to Australian mobile carriers are charged at $0.05 per 160 characters. Unfortunately from October 4th 2010 you should notice, if you have sent any messages, that messages reflect the new pricing of $0.07 per 160 characters if you do not reach a volume of greater than 1000 SMS messages per month.

If you do exceed the minimum monthly volume of 1000 SMS messages then you are eligible for our volume pricing as below.

* 7.00 cents per message – no volume commitment*
* 6.50 cents per message – 1,000 SMS per month*
* 6.00 cents per message – 10,000 SMS per month*
* 5.50 cents per message – 20,000 SMS per month*
* 5.00 cents per message – 50,000 SMS per month*
* Price on Application - 100,000 + SMS per month*

Cheers

Thanks William. Appreciate your response. That just leaves a few quick questions.
Yep, I knew October 1 invoice was for September but I meant that Id looked yesterday and cost was 0.05 - I can see as of today they are now 0.07 (from TODAY)
Wasnt 1 October going to be the date that increase was applied from?
And wasnt it to be 0.10 not 0.07.
I must of missed some information about it.
Cheers.
Also does the Value Added package ($1 for 30 160 Character SMS) remain at this point? Effectively 3.3 cents per SMS (for first 30)

Thanks heaps

Hi,

I can understand the confusion. On September 6th, 2010 an email was sent advising that prices were to increase to $0.10 per 160 characters. This was followed be an email on September 13th, 2010 advising prices would be instead set to $0.07 per 160 characters. Any messages incorrectly charged on October 4th, 2010 will be rectified to reflect the $0.07 price increase.

In regards to the Value Added Package I'll need to advise you at a later date as I'm unsure as to how this has been applied given the new rate.

Cheers
