Hi,

We use Exetel to send messages for a business application. Generally works pretty well, but when we send to a group and we get the message ID in the form 9-9aa999-yyyy-mm-dd the messages tend not to get through, and when they do they are certainly not delivered in a timely way. The status messages are at times incorrect.... "Delivered" when the message didn't reach the handset, let alone send a read response.

Can you please explain what we need to do to avoid using this method to send messages.... do we need to send a particular number at a time?

When a staff member drops in, you'll get the definitive answer to what's happened if you PM to him the service you are using.

In the meantime, I note that the published URL-encoded API permits up to 5000 bulked messages, though I have never scripted so many, with returned status being one of:
0: SMS Request Rejected
1: Sent
2: Failed
with some additional info.

If you are sending very large bulk quantities it really is a scripting job where you can include appropriate response actions.
