Mobile version of user facilities

Post by SpaceMonkey » Mon May 10, 2010 6:17 pm

Hi There,

Was just wondering if there has been any thought about implementing a version of the Exetel user facilities, forums and EXESMS webpage formatted for mobile browsers? The desktop site is pretty clean and simple but it's still a bit of a pain to navigate around on a mobile browser. A mobile formatted version of EXESMS would be a nice alternative to the EXESMS app for those of us whose phones aren;t compatible with it,and would avoid the need to make app versions that are specific to particular phones/mobile OSes.

Cheers!

Give Opera with small screen rendering set a try. The pages appear correctly, laid out in a scrollable column. http://www.opera.com/mobile/
It's a style sheet problem in many ways. See for example http://css-discuss.incutio.com/wiki/Han ... tylesheets

There was an attempt. See this thread. They still have something in the pipework but it does not seem to be of high priority at this point in time.

Hi Guys,

This will definitely be looked into once the New Members Facilities is up.

We're aiming at moving all of the current Members Facilities into one so once this is done, it shouldn't be hard from there.

No dates on when this will be done can be given at this time.

Good tip on using Opera, looks a little messy but much more usable (its called "mobile view" in the iphone version by the way).
And yeah its my understanding that its pretty much just a matter of implementing style sheets fir mobile browsers.
