Net Usage Meter reports parsing error

Post by Tafkam » Thu Apr 19, 2012 8:28 am

Hi,
My Net Usage Meter has not been working for a few days. When I try to update, it says "a parsing error has occured (S4)". I checked the web page and it said to download the latest version which is compatible with Firefox 10 versions, and I knew I only had version 9. So, I went & updated Firefox, which promptly bypassed version 10 and went straight to version 11. Is there any way to backtrack to version 10 so that the Net Usage Meter works?
Any help appreciated!

I have been using netusage 1.2.338.1 on Firefox 11 (Linux) since it was released and all was working well till late Wednesday (18-4) when this parsing error also disrupted my usage reports. I suggest it is an Exetel server problem.

Edit - I just recovered my usage data and it looked like this...

I have not checked what the recent working report looked like but this is very unconvincing XML.

Certainly not XML, CB. The message comes from the XML handler - parse: function(ae) in netusage/netusagebtn-latest.xpi_FILES/components/nsNetUsageItem.js.

I just grabbed my own account CB. It looks normal. The GnomeGTK meter script I posted yonks ago at viewtopic.php?f=303&t=32481 and haven't updated is reporting no parsing problems.

Perhaps related to Firefox?

The last Firefox update was released on March 13

Thanks Dazzled. I went back to version 10 but the net Usage Item still isn't working. Still getting the parsing error. Trying again....

Hmm...no luck. Have emailed critter.

Just found this earlier version of Netusage that works with Firefox 11 and is now working perfectly.

Arrrgh!!! Now it's stopped working again!

Ok....It had automatically updated the Net Usage Item when I wasn't looking, sneaky thing! I had to disable that option in "manage add-ons" and reinstall the earlier version that GaryG so kindly provided the link for. All good now. :)

In case anyone needs it: (Firefox)
Tools>Options>General>Add-ons>Manage Add-ons> then click on "more" next to Net Usage Item and turn off automatic updates.

A fix has been released - switching on auto updates for Netusage should install 1.2.344.1 which works for me.
