FAX Via Email

Post by ForumAdmin » Fri Sep 21, 2007 1:08 pm

The ability to send SMS from an Exetel broadband connection has been enthusiastically taken up by many customers and we will continue to add to and refine the features and functions of that service.

We are considering adding the ability to send and receive Faxes using the Exetel broadband services and any suggestions/requirements from current users will, as always, be welcomed before we release the test version of this new facility.

The cost would likely be around 2 cents per fax sent.

Great idea. Would it be also possible to have an actual number to fax to and from?

Yes - for a small monthly charge.

I like the idea of this, even though I probably only send about 4 personal faxes a year. Sure beats going down to the local library or newsagent where they charge you $1 per page.

It would then be dependant on how much the cost would be to have a number associated with this as mentioned in the post prior.

Would it be possible to actually have the same number that I/we have for ADSL?

Yes, please!

I've been looking at mBox for just a facility, but if Exetel offers it, I'll sign up.

It would be really good if it works with the MS Outlook fax from email function, using the address format that Outlook uses to store fax addresses (ie, Name@faxnumber).

Bring it on! Although I'll be very interested to see if you can beat the value of utbox.

I think this is a fantastic idea. It never ceases to amaze me how many companies still demand the use of this outdated and redundant form of communication to do business

Yes please - with fax to email

Post by djw » Fri Sep 21, 2007 1:37 pm

I've previously posted a request on the VOIP forum for this service. I would like an incoming fax number (eg. a 2nd VOIP DID) and for any faxes sent to this number to be simply forwarded on to me as email messages.

For home office or small business users this would be often be a preferable option to having a fax machine cluttering up the office.

Sounds great, particularly the ability to have a number to give out for receiving faxes...

There is no requirement to have a different number to just send faxes - only if you want to receive faxes.

Tell me about that service and what Exetel would need to "beat"?

Yes I second the incoming faxes forwarded as emails. Sounds super. I still get requests for faxes. However I would prefer to use the same number as my current VOIP (if and when I get it working again).

I'd just like to second (third?...) my support for the move. It would be very welcome.
