I have a website hosted by exetel (not the free type). The address is www.otgcc.org.au

I have uploaded the website, and have included a file called index.html

Whenever I enter the web address in internet explorer, I get the error message "The webpage cannot be found".

Suggestions please?

G'day Arzcrack"
Have put the index.html file into the public_html folder? Only if that is done will it display as expected, http://www.otgcc.org.au/index.html

Cheers,

Mike

thanks Mike,

I have now added a folder public_html and put all website files including the index.html and it still doesn't work

Have I done it wrong, or does this mean there's another problem?

That looks right, the site is visible now.

I am surprised that directory wasn't already there. I would have thought it was a default when access was granted.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi,

It seems you may have removed your public_html directory inadvertently. This directory should actually be a subdirectory in:

web/www.otgcc.org.au/

I have moved your public_html directory into the correct place. From now on all uploads should be in the directory

web/www.otgcc.org.au/public_html

Daniel C

G'day Danielc ,
Was public_html in the users root directory?

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Austdata,

Well the first time I checked, it didn't exist. Shortly after it had been created in the root-directory.

So the answer is, yes and no :)

I didn't even think to suggest it should have been created, just assumed it was there. Oops.
