403 Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /classicspaceport/ on this server.
Apache/2.2.3 (Debian) mod_ssl/2.2.3 OpenSSL/0.9.8c Server at home.exetel.com.au Port 80

Its probably user error on my part as I'm very new to all this - but was wondering if anyone else can access it,and if not - any ideas?

Some checks, Assuming your files are now on the website:

1. Is your main file called "index.html"? Note spelling and all lower case.

If that is so, and the browser still doesn't see anything:

2 Use your ftp client to chmod all the file permissions on the website to 705 (= owner: read, write, execute; others: read, execute)

Remember that the server is case sensitive regarding file names.

I'm not sure what to expect from the site name you've used and it's a bit late tonight for me to start thinking about it. The system is probably set up to use things like http://home.exetel.com.au/yourname so it could be worth changing it.

Has anyone registered the domain kerim86.com.au? Do you intend to move the whole site to that address latter? It may make things a bit confusing if you move the site latter.

In the above example the final location and name should be http://home.exetel.com.au/yourname/publ ... index.html - index.html is the file name. All browsers will look for it and if it's not there your site wont seem to work.

Cheers,

Mike

I spotted the error in the URL posted, but correcting it made no difference, so I am guessing the problem lies in the actual files.

Currently we don't have a problem with the free web-hosting server, for more information please read Andrew's Announcement.

To start, you will just need to create a FTP connection then upload your files to directory: 'public_html'. Your FTP login details will be sent to you by Email once you applied for this service through Member Facilities.

If you are not sure how to set this up, please Email hosting@exetel.com.au with your service number for further assistance.
