Re: Web Upload Help
Have you activated your new webspace through the member facilities?
Have you updated your FTP client with the new server name, login name and password?
I use Filezilla, excellent program.
Can download from here - http://filezilla-project.org/
The image below shows my settings for the new webspace. Note the fw_ prefix to the webspace name used as the login.

Re: Web Upload Help
I've done that. But I keep getting this message
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /ari/ on this server.
Do you know what went wrong?

Re: Web Upload Help
No idea what's going on there then.
When I have a wrong password, I get 'login incorrect'. So something else is happening for you.
I can access your new website though, for what that's worth.

Re: Web Upload Help
Bruckley, you will have to ask a more specific question than that. In the simplest case, all you have to do is copy an image file to your space on the Exetel server using the File Transfer Protocol (FTP). I suspect though you want to know how to display it as a website - there are several ways, depending on what you want in more detail.
The simplest method is to first FTP transfer them to the site in .png, .jpeg or .gif format, and then refer to them, one after the other, using <img> tags in index.html. There is a reference manual at http://www.htmlhelp.com/reference/html40/.
Another simple way, with no programming required, is to prepare a document containing your pictures using your office application, and convert it to html format and named "index.html". Then transfer that file to the webspace.

Re: Web Upload Help
Sorry, I meant into this forum, as I would like to show screenshots to help diagnose why I cannot upload my website. I have had a website at Exetel for over 5 years. I have recreated my webspace and keep getting to the root ftp site i.e. ftp://home.exetel.com.au even when I use ftp://fw_bruckley@home.exetel.com.au as the address. I am unable to log on to my webspace to upload files.
Re: Web Upload Help
It shows as a DNS problem and more explicitly as a Firewall problem not at my computer. I don't believe my wireless router or ADSL Modem have an active firewall. I doubt Exetel is blocking FTP to their FTP server????
Re: Web Upload Help
You're making an invalid assumption here I think. All of yesterday you've been connecting just fine. You're meant to be at what looks like the root ftp site when you connect. It's a security feature where you're only allowed to see your own webspace (you'll notice that in the email you were sent your upload directory is '/' - this wasn't a typo). This morning you (I assume) have attempted to connect twice and failed to use the correct password.bruckley wrote:Sorry, I meant into this forum, as I would like to show screenshots to help diagnose why I cannot upload my website. Re: Web Upload Help
OK thanks. So now I know the problem is me. Yes I see the root directory and 2 directories . and .. I am using the password given to me when I recreated the website yesterday. The FTP root site is open in Internet Explorer. I am offered the option to open the site in Windows Explorer which I have done in the past and just copied the files across. But as you say it does not like my password. Any ideas?

You connected successfully that time and everything is functioning properly. You are seeing what you should be seeing.bruckley wrote:OK thanks. So now I know the problem is me. Re: Web Upload Help
In Windows Explorer I still get the message:
Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder.
Details: A connection with the server could not be established.

Re: Web Upload Help
