Can't connect to MySQL server

We are trying to transfer our existing website from current hosting service over to the Exetel web hosting service - the paid one, not the free web space service.
I have transferred the php and image files and DB content to the Exetel server but I'm unable to connect to the database
server from my code.
I can connect to the online admin tool - that's where I uploaded all the DB contents ok as far as I can see... so I'm confident that I have the correct username/password.
Have tried (as advised) the server name 'Exetel Free Web Host' but this doesn't work. I also tried "localhost" (which is the usual setting) without success.

If I'm getting the right picture here ...
You're trying to connect our mysql db (the one offered in free web hosting) with the php script that you have uploaded onto your paid web hosting service right?

Please find that as stated in the User Facilities - Web Space Configuration on "How to use Exetel Customer Private MySQL Database" point no. 2 that:
"...access to the database is only permitted from the free web hosting server...". therefore you're not allowed to connect to our free web hosting included database service from your paid service.

We have signed up for the paid ($75 per year) web hosting service.

This should come with MySQL access. We just want to connect to this (paid for) database.

NB. We are probably struggling with this because whilst there is a reasonable amount of information on the Exetel website and the forums about the free website hosting there seems to be almost nothing about the paid website hosting!!

I see, by default, when you order a web hosting service, it does not come with mysql DB. This however can be done by request. We never receive any request from you therefore we never create one.

I create one for you now, and will send you the detail via email

Hi davidbass,

Did you end up getting your mysql sorted out for you? If not, just send an email into hosting@exetel.com.au along with all your relevant details, and it should be done for you post-haste :)

Regards,
Daniel C
