Directory Icons

Post by Dazzled » Mon Dec 15, 2008 10:18 am

Andrew, a small request please.

it would be nice, if when .htaccess requests a directory listing with "Options +Indexes", Apache could find the various icons (eg /icons/back.gif etc) itself, without the user having to provide them. Alternatively, could you list all the icon files somewhere, so that a pre-made icons directory can be inserted?

How's that?

Currently, on seeing "Options +Indexes" you serve something like this---

<h1>Index of /xxxxxx/yyyyyy</h1>
<table>
<tr>
<th><img src="/icons/blank.gif" alt="[ICO]"></th>
<th><a href="?C=N;O=D">Name</a></th>
<th><a href="?C=M;O=A">Last modified</a></th>
<th><a href="?C=S;O=A">Size</a></th>
<th><a href="?C=D;O=A">Description</a></th>
</tr>
<tr><th colspan="5"><hr></th>
</tr>
<tr>
<td valign="top"><img src="/icons/back.gif" alt="[DIR]"></td>
<td><a href="/xxxxxx/">Parent Directory</a></td>
<td>&nbsp;</td>
<td align="right"> - </td>
</tr>

The /icons directory is not mapped, so the text alt= is displayed.

Have you tried it since my last post, inc after a shift/ctrl-refresh/reload?

So did I. Is that a hat trick? :mrgreen:

PS: I had to look up laconic - You know, it has nothing to do with Icons either. :P
The views I present here are not necessarily those from my brain.
