FTP Help

Post by redrich2000 » Sat Mar 06, 2010 12:22 pm

I am using WS_FTP and have little experience with all this.

Is this how the connection should be set up?

Host name/address: home.exetel.com.au/[username]
Host type: autodetect
User ID: [username]
password: [password]

Do I need anything in Account:?
Do I need to change anything on the startup tab?

Thanks

I don't use WS_FTP, so I'm not not up on its fine details, but for ftp to the free space, in general, you need only:
Host-- home.exetel.com.au
User -- fw_yoursitename
Password -- as allocated to you by Exetel.
The default port is 21. Most clients have sensible defaults.

I am having trouble as well. I use home.exetel.com.au and fw_yoursitename and the password doesn't work so I keep resetting my ftp password and trying to use it in Filezilla but it still doesn't work. Can anyone help me?

I have just finished some ftp transfers, so it is presently working. The user name is fw_ prepended to the name you have chosen, to make one word with no spaces. Underscore, not hyphen. The password is allocated by Exetel. Being a Linux server it is case sensitive, so make sure that caps aren't straying in where they aren't wanted, both in names and passwords.
