"Web Address has already been taken", but unable to view.

Some time ago I setup a website through the members facilities (http://home.exetel.com.au/Osprey06). I have been reading about the change that have occurred in the last year, but am confused. I can still access my files via ftp using the existing credentials (which would be more than a year old), but cannot view via http (404) and cannot create a new website/weblog with the same name (which is what I would like to use). Replacing home.exetel.com.au with temporary.home.exetel.com.au as indicated in the members area doesn't seem to change anything. I'm not concerned about the files (as I can access them via ftp and have a local backup anyway), but would like to know why I cannot access the website/name I created earlier - is that name now retired along with the old server??

In case it matters, I have had a plan (and service number) change since it was originally set up.
