"Mobile plan comparison" give questionable results.

Post by whoknows » Tue Dec 08, 2009 3:22 pm

I just tried the "Mobile plan comparison" in the user facilities - quite a nice feature!

However it is giving me strange results. For one particular mobile number (I have 5!) which is on the Mobile 2 plan ($5 minimum spend), it is telling me that the Mobile 1 plan would be cheaper ($40.43 vs $42.65). This doesn't make any sense to me as Mobile 1 should only be cheaper if the total monthly spend is less than $5. This apparent error calls in to question all of the results so I am loath to make a decision based on them.

Can anyone point out to me how Mobile 1 could be cheaper than Mobile 2 at this spend-level? Or can someone from exetel fix the problem? (I can of course give you the particular mobile number on request, though if I tell you it ends 084 and was invoiced $42.65 for November 2009, you can probably find it yourself).

I suspect it might be a calculation error of some sort, I'll ask our Voice services manager.
