Slow MBB speeds

Post by maharvey » Wed Aug 14, 2019 4:50 pm

Hi all

I've been having slow MBB speeds that is unusable in the afternoons from ~4pm until nearly 10pm

I've tried moving the modem to various parts of the house without any change

At best in "off peak" times I am able to reach 12Mpbs but currently having near continuous timeouts and using mobile phone to hot spot (also Optus 4G network, different carrier)

The speed test with phone SIM is ~23Mbps and with MBB 0.5Mpbs

Phone hotspot (Optus 4G) - https://exetel.speedtestcustom.com/resu ... 5b9eacf70a

Exetel mobile broadband - https://exetel.speedtestcustom.com/resu ... 5b9eacf70a

As far as I can see there are no reported issues with the network and the coverage map (Footscray, VIC) is a sea of purple

Is there something else I can do?

TIA!

Also realise should read "Home Wireless Broadband" rather than mobile broadband

And modem is Huawei B525 from Exetel

I would like to check this with our Optus network. Can you drop an email with random speed test (http://speedtest.exetel.com.au/) results during peak / offpeak times, including the service number or the customer id ? Once you have received the ticket reference number, reply here with that and I will check accordingly.

Thanks - I'll send that through with an offpeak speedtest

Its now 19:30 and speed is 3.3Mbps so improving and can slowly load pages but unable to stream at this speed

We will have the comparison and log a fault accordingly with the wholesale supplier.

Thank you for providing the reference details. We need to escalate this with our wholesale supplier to check possible network related issues.

From now on, we will communicate through the email ticket #15866127.
